Good balance for our judokas with two silvers and two individual bronzes and a third place in the junior category together with the Suzaku Club.

Judo Sanfer lived a spectacular weekend in the world of judo, participating in all categories of the Villa de Avilés tournament, from the juvenile tournament to the junior tournament, including the Spanish children's and cadet Super Cups. Our performance culminated with a great balance that included a silver medal for Claudia Lora, a bronze medal for Paula López in the junior tournament, a silver for Aarón Aguirre and a bronze for Ian Martín in the children's promotion category. Additionally, in the junior category, the Sanfer Judo club achieved third place together with the Suzaku Club.

Alba Sánchez Prieto -48 kg

In the cadet category, Alba Sánchez had an outstanding performance by winning her first match against the Portuguese Margarida Trindade with an ippon. However, in the second round she faced Irene Catala, from Castilla y León, and lost by waza-ari, with no repechage opportunities. In the junior category, Alba started in the round of XNUMX and unfortunately lost to María Xavier, from Portugal, being eliminated.

Álvaro Gamba -60 kg

Álvaro Gamba stood out for his bravery when competing in multiple categories, from cadet to junior. In the cadet category, he suffered a defeat against Daniel Santos, from Portugal. However, in the junior category, he entered the repechage after the first round and won a match by sanctions (shidos). In the second match of the repechage, he faced Sergio Barbe, from Galicia, but finally lost to the Asturian Hugo González, who won the bronze medal.

Claudia Lora -57 kg

Claudia Lora stood out as the club's most outstanding judoka by winning the silver medal in the junior tournament. She put on a spectacular competition and made up for her performance last weekend. In the first fight, Claudia defeated the Asturian Raquel Burgos with an ippon. In the semifinals, she achieved a victory against the Asturian Yanira Álvarez through an immobilization. However, in the finals, she suffered a loss against Adriana Cabezudo.

Paula López Coloma -63 kg

In the cadet category, Paula López had a difficult start when she lost her first fight against the Galician Irene Vázquez by an ippon. Despite her defeat, she managed to enter the repechage and won a match by ippon. Unfortunately, in the second repechage, Paula lost against Lola Álvarez from Madrid due to shidos.

In the junior category, Paula did not have a favorable start, losing her first fight against the Asturian Alejandra Pérez by an ippon. In the second round, she again suffered a defeat, this time against the Portuguese Leonor Costa, also by an ippon. Despite these defeats, she managed to obtain third place.

Sara Zapatero -48 kg

In the cadet category, Sara Zapatero had a difficult first fight in which she lost by a wazari against the Aragonese Daniela Teres Cereza, and was unable to compete in the repechage.

In the junior category, Sara had a more successful start by winning her first match by ippon against the Galician Clara María López Calvo. However, in the semifinals, she suffered a loss by wazari against the Cantabrian Paula Herrera Pérez. Despite this, she fought for the bronze medal, but ultimately lost to the Galician Yanira Silva García.

Ángela Fernández -48 kg

Angela Fernandez did not manage to advance in the competition, since she could not advance from the first round after losing against the Galician Lidia Trabado.

Martín Quiroga -81 kg

Being his first year in this category, Martín Quiroga used this competition as a valuable learning opportunity, despite not having made it past the first round. This experience allowed him to identify the points in which he needs to strengthen himself in the future.

Claudia Arribas -57 kg

Claudia Arribas was unable to advance in the competition and did not participate in the junior category due to an injury to her right elbow. Her coach decided it was best to back off and give her time to rest and recover.

Children's Promotion Category

In the children's promotion category, the Sanfer Judo judokas obtained outstanding results:

  • Aaron Aguirre, in -38 kg, had an exceptional performance by winning all his fights, although he missed one in his league, which led him to obtain the silver medal.
  • Ian Martín, in -38 kg, performed notable fights and managed to take the bronze medal, winning one of them.
  • Sergio Sampedro, at -60 kg, fought with determination, although he was not successful in victories.

In the junior category, the Sanfer Judo club joined the Suzaku Club and managed to reach the semifinals of the tournament, finishing in third place, showing the good health of the quarry that follows in the footsteps of the older ones.

The club's judokas demonstrated their dedication, bravery and determination, leading the team to outstanding performances and earning medals that reflect their talent and commitment to the sport of judo.
