Highlights and a day to enjoy in the Junior and Junior Rankings

Saturday afternoon, at the Quirinal complex in Avilés. There, a day of judo took place, more than a competition, but a true celebration of grassroots sport. Our clubs Judo Promesas Comarca and Judo Sanfer joined forces once again to demonstrate that the youth academy is alive, excited, and constantly growing.

Benjamins: sowing judo, sowing values

In the junior category, both clubs presented a total of 12 athletes, many of them debutants. In this age group, the competition is experienced with enthusiasm, but without pressure, as coach Iván Faleato emphasizes: “They came to enjoy themselves, to live the experience. They're incredibly excited to be here, to put on the judogi, to bow on the mat, to hear their name over the PA system… The result isn't the least of it; the participation medal already makes them feel like champions.”

The behavior, attitude, and respect shown by the little ones were exemplary. They embraced every moment with joy, competed fearlessly, and, above all, had fun, which is the true goal of this formative stage.

Fry: they begin to lead the way

The under-22 category showed us a more solid image. With XNUMX judokas registered, this group is already emerging as the immediate future of the upper categories. This was evident in their technical level, their composure on the mat, and the competitive maturity they are beginning to develop.

The result was brilliant, but even more important was the way it was achieved:

GOLDS

• Claudia García (-30 kg): She dominated her bouts with great confidence. She regularly trains with older groups, which gives her a technical edge. Iván explains clearly: “She's at an incredibly high level for her age. It's no surprise that she won with such ease.”
• Abraham García (-30 kg): Another name starting to stand out on his own merits. “He's made a huge leap this year. He's gone from doing judo like a kid to becoming more like an adult. A spectacular development,” the coach said.
• Telva García: The great revelation. “With only a yellow belt, she's crowned champion of Asturias. It's the fruit of the patient and constant work that her coach, Sergio, has managed to channel. This girl has been showing promise for some time, and today she's confirmed it.”

SILVER

• Marcos Millares: A born competitor. “He left the final feeling angry, hungry for more. And that after barely a year on the mat. He surprised us all. He has enormous potential and a great desire to learn.”

BRONZES

• Dani and Darío Bermejo: The twins showed that even though they haven't competed much outside the country, their training is serious and consistent. They took a bronze medal in one of their first official competitions.
• Adriana Aguirre (-30 kg): She lost her first fight due to a lack of concentration, but she managed to recover with maturity and achieve bronze by winning the rest of her matches.

A foundation that gives hope

The Sanfer and Promesas Judo coaching team expressed pride and satisfaction after the day. Iván Faleato, as technical director, emphasized: “We are working on the foundation with great care. We take care of the details, instill values, and teach how to compete without forgetting that this is a process. These results are just a sign that what we are sowing will bear solid fruit in the future.”

Beyond the medals, Saturday in Avilés was an afternoon of training, joy, and camaraderie. Because in judo, as in life, great champions are developed from a young age... and our youth squad is promising.
