The Sanfer youth player, who plays for the Avilés Stadium National League team, debuted a few days ago in the Third Division with the first team of the Avilés team, a great step forward in a progression made entirely in the College teams.

Overflow, speed, dribbling, intelligence, self-confidence ... These are just some of the virtues that adorn the game of David Heres Iglesias, one of the main names of the College's Football School San Fernando, which have led him to debut a few days ago with the Avilés Stadium CF Third Division team. The Sanfer player, a subsidiary of the Avilesino team, regularly plays with the National Youth League Stadium, where he is standing out as a versatile midfielder, capable of playing both inside and outside or even forward.

"I was on the bench in the first half and half an hour later the coach sent us to warm up two. We entered the second half, after the second rival goal. It was as usual, as if it were a normal game, only with older people and a more serious atmosphere, more of football. " With this simplicity David remembers his debut in Third, a calm that borders on shyness and that contrasts with his impudence on the pitch. However, the Sanfer player appreciated the category jump. "The physical issue was more noticeable, with the bigger, stronger people ... and also how they play and behave on the field," he explains. David appreciates the welcome given to him by his teammates in the Stadium first team, with whom he had already trained and who were aware of him at all times.

Although he hopes to repeat the experience and help Avilés Stadium to retain the category, his reality is in the National Youth League team, which leads the classification in the fight for permanence phase. "For a point we could not get into the ascent phase, but the objective was to save ourselves and, if nothing strange happens, we will succeed," he says emphatically.

A strange season

In this season marked by Covid-19 the sensations are being strange. "We started in September one week and the next they forced us to stop. The federation said that only the national category could play, so luckily we were able to do it," says Heres. The difference in filming between the teams was noticeable, especially at the beginning of the season. "There were games on Sunday and Wednesday, in addition to those postponed, and it was very noticeable the teams that had been able to train well and were more prepared. After Christmas, everything was equal."

David defines himself as a "fast player, I manage quite well with both legs and I like to run". A Barça fan, he can't help but refer to Messi, although the one he liked the most was Iniesta. It also highlights the good role that Pedri is doing. "At 18 he is playing as a starter; he is very good." He too would like to play in the First Division. "I would like to reach the maximum, although I do not know if I can," he says humbly.

His entire career is linked to the College teams San Fernando. "I started with four or five years, and until now." Although other teams came looking for him, he always preferred to stay at the Sanfer. "I have always been very comfortable here, I have had a good time. I was not going to change teams to play in a higher or lower category," he says.

The coaches stamp

The good relationship with his teammates over the years has been one of the reasons for his loyalty to Sanfer, as well as his experience with all the coaches he has had throughout his career. "They all taught me a lot." David especially remembers the transition to children, "with the change from field to football 11, which was with Noel and Fernando." He also highlights "Sergio in the youngest. Adrián taught us a lot and we were champions of Asturias in schools. Luis Castro, who knows what football is, came in when we were youngsters, and from that, Ron took us as cadet, who also knows a lot, being second to Manel as part of Marino's technical team. And now at the Avilés Stadium, with a coach I already knew from playing against us in some friendlies with Bosco, also young but who knows football. "

High school student in the Humanities and Social Sciences modality, David confesses that he is not very clear about his academic future, although he wants to study something "that I really like. For the moment, football focuses his hobbies and makes him dream of higher heights in a career in which the Sanfer crest will always be very present.
