This noon the collection of the Solidarity Festival held in March took place, which totaled €2.889,29 between the donations delivered at the entrance and the amount collected through Bizum.

This afternoon, the boardroom of the College hosted the delivery of the proceeds from the Solidarity Festival held last March, which this year went to the Mi Princesa Rett Association. The proposal came from the 1st year student of the Diploma Program, Cecilia Fernández, who was in charge of delivering the check for €2.889,29 to the entity's representative, Marta Vega.

"At the School we always promote activities whose purpose is causes that the students consider worthwhile", explained our Director, Javier Martínez. Not surprisingly, solidarity is a central element of the International Baccalaureate programmes, gaining special importance in the Creativity, Activity and Service (CAS) component of the Diploma Program. It is the germ of many of the initiatives promoted by the Foundation San Fernando and that they always have the support of our entire educational community. In this sense, the Solidarity Festival coordinated by Professor Esteban Suárez Pandiello, present at this award ceremony, is one of the most important events and one that mobilizes the greatest number of people and entities, without forgetting others such as the surcharge included in the participation in the Christmas Lottery (which this year allowed the acquisition of a thousand liters of ABRIL olive oil for the Fraternity of Francisco) or the Solidarity Sandwich that takes place on May 30, the day of the Feast of San Fernando.

For her part, Marta Vega highlighted the importance of giving visibility to this syndrome, a serious disorder of neurological development that mainly affects the female sex. She is the mother of Ainhoa, one of the seven girls with Rett Syndrome in Asturias. "Everything adds up, everything is needed", thanked Vega, who recalled that a few years ago this group received the solidarity of the educational community of the School, then together with the Galbán Association that supports families of children with cancer. In the case of My Princess Rett, the association raises funds for research into this so-called 'rare' disease, as well as helping families to deal with the therapies that the girls follow.

Once again, thank you for the involvement of the entire educational community of the School to make these solidarity initiatives a success and thus contribute to very important causes in our immediate environment.
