The group of students and professors of the Dietrich-Bonhoeffer Schule institute in Weinheim (Germany) with whom the School maintains a successful exchange program are already with us.

They arrived on Tuesday night, after a long flight to Bilbao and their subsequent transfer by bus to the school's facilities, where they met their Spanish companions and accompanied them to their respective homes.

They did not have much time for rest, since at eight this morning they had to be in the center, where they made a visit to the classrooms, the library, the assembly hall, the sports center ... Next, Professor Jonathan Walls offered a talk in English in which he offered some clues about life and customs in Asturias, as well as the Spanish educational system.

After recess, the group visited the historic center and the main monuments of Avilés. They counted on the guide of the professor of Humanities Esther Fano, who also accompanied them to the later reception in the City council. The Councilor for Education, Yolanda Alonso, welcomed them to Avilés, and explained the medieval and industrial past of the city, as well as the changes experienced in recent years. Students and professors took the opportunity to take photos both outside and inside the City Hall, especially the reception room where the event took place. Tired of both the trip of the previous day and the tight schedule of today's morning, the group was able to spend the afternoon resting and spending time with their host families.

Ahead, they have a varied agenda. Tomorrow, Thursday, the group will visit the center of Gijón in the morning, and in the afternoon they will visit the Oscar Niemeyer International Cultural Center. On Friday, the German and Spanish companions will share a walking route between San Esteban de Pravia and El Aguilar beach, the best preamble for the weekend they will spend with their Spanish families. The German exchange group will start next week visiting Oviedo, and on their return to Avilés they will enjoy a farewell spirit. Before leaving on Tuesday for Germany, they will have time to collaborate with their Spanish colleagues in the preparation of a work that will summarize their stay in Asturias, and that they will present to ESO's 3º students in the assembly hall. Then it will be time for the farewell before they board the bus that will take them to the Bilbao airport for their return to Germany.
