The students had this morning the first contact with the College before the start of classes, which will be tomorrow Friday.

The auditorium of the College hosted this morning the presentations of the ESO and Baccalaureate groups, an act that is the prelude to the beginning of the classes and also attended by numerous family members. The appointment was attended by our Academic Director, Carmen Bueno, of the Head of Educational Innovation Studies, Teacher Training and School Orientation, Mónica Rodríguez, the Head of Secondary Education Studies, María José Menéndez, and the tutors of each One of the groups. They all welcomed the students and encouraged them to take full advantage of the course that is now beginning.

"Our goal is to live together, share and build learning together," Carmen Bueno said after wishing the students a good start to the course. In the news chapter, the Academic Director explained the new digital platform being developed by the IT department of the center. Until its start-up, communication with families will be done through email. Also, library orders will be made through the Secretariat. Finally, Carmen Bueno announced that, as of this course, those students who make sporadic use of the dining room service must request a ticket, also at the Secretariat.

For its part, the Chief of Educational Innovation advanced to students, especially those of ESO 1º, some aspects about the new course, which will follow the methodology of the Middle Years Program (MYP) of the International Baccalaureate. Its main difference from the Primary Years Program (PEP) is that inquiries are made in all subjects, and not only in science. "It is a more participatory way of learning, which helps you not forget what you learn, to relate that knowledge to solve problems in real life and use all your intelligences," he said. In this context the use of the Chromebook is framed, the work tool that students will use throughout the course. In the next few days, the 1º groups will receive training about their use and study techniques to get the most out of them.

Then, the Head of Secondary Education Studies reminded students of the rules that will govern the correct development of the course (schedules, uniformity, rules of coexistence, etc). María José Menéndez made a special impact in two aspects. On the one hand, the use of the Chromebook device. "It is not a computer to use, but it will be your book in the School, your work tool with all the necessary teaching material," he said. Therefore, students must make proper use of it, not being able to use it to download games , music or other content that does not correspond to academic practice. The second section in which the Head of Studies insisted was the prohibition of the possession of any mobile device or smartwatch. To conclude, Menéndez highlighted one of the main hallmarks of the College San Fernando: the formation of integral and supportive people. "That is only achieved from respect for others, towards oneself and towards the environment," he said.

After the presentation, the students accompanied the tutors to their respective classrooms, where they received the last indications before the beginning of the classes. We're all here! Welcome!
