Campanal, Dacal and De las Heras explain to children the benefits of sports

The three together treasure so many trophies that they would not fit in an entire classroom, but for them the important thing is the benefit that sport has brought to them (and still brings them today) in their day to day, from the physical, psychic point of view And social. And so they explained this morning to the students of 2º of Primary Education, who had the opportunity to receive first-hand the teachings of Marcelino Vaquero ('Campanal'), José Enrique Rodríguez Cal ('Dacal II') and Nicolás de las Heras .

This was highlighted by Marcelo Campanal, an example of love for sport and longevity at the highest level. With a background photo of him playing a ball with Alfredo Di Stéfano ("the best soccer player of all time", as he explained to the 'little ones'), Campanal made a quick review of his football career and athletic, not forgetting tennis, where he also stood out. It was not easy, because at his 86 years, Campanal has an unbeatable track record that continues to grow year after year with new national titles in different athletics specialties. His achievements surprised both the students and his photos by jumping with a pole, overcoming the high jump ribbon, or with his neck full of medals. However, the former captain of the Spanish team, beyond the triumphs, stressed to children the importance of sports to lead a healthy and balanced life.

A message in which he coincided with another legend of the avilesino sport: Dacal II. The boxer showed the students the bronze medal obtained at the Olympic Games in Munich'72, he told them about his experience as a flag bearer of the Spanish delegation in Montreal'76 and his different experiences in the world of boxing. A sporting life that, after its withdrawal, prolonged participating in popular races throughout the region. And all this, combining it with his work at Ensidesa for four decades. Dacal spoke to the children of the importance not only of the daily exercise, but also of taking advantage of the opportunity they have in the School to be trained from the academic and personal point of view, and thus carve out a professional future.

In the same line was pronounced Nicolás de las Heras, who visited the College of which he is a former student just a few days after he was proclaimed Spain's ultratrail champion in his category. Accustomed to running huge distances up and down great slopes, De las Heras also demonstrated his ability to explain to the little ones the benefits of sport, which highlighted the famous phrase: "the important thing is to participate". Because participating one already gains in health, in well-being, in fun, in sharing great moments with friends ... The runner showed the children the equipment with the facing each race (backpack, canes, crampons, frontal, etc) and they encouraged to start in any sport and start enjoying its benefits.

The talk of these three champions has been part of the activities contained in the line of inquiry being done by the 2º groups of Ed. Primaria, which is entitled 'Why do some things that I do favor my well-being?'.
