The Sanfer player achieved a deserved second place in the youngest category after fighting for gold throughout the tournament.

After defeating one of the clearest favourites, eventual champion Diego Iglesias, Luis launched himself into first place, but a setback in round 5 left the way open for his supporters once again. In the end, the tiebreaker favored him for having played against the strongest rivals and finally the luck that he has lacked in other championships in Asturias smiled at him. Great job by Luis, who has shown that he can compete face to face with the best in the region.

In the sub 8 category, a very good performance in general, although the nerves at the beginning for some and at the end for others separated us from the medals. Positions 9 and 10 for Rafael Serrano and Laura Peláez, with 4 points each, and positions 25 and 26 for Nicolás Pulido and Martín Herrero, who in their debut in the competition showed great strength and with a little more work they can compete with the above.

Carmen Peláez also participated in the under 10 category, which started strong but faded as the competition went on. She at the end she 2 points and the position 31. She will undoubtedly improve in the following competitions.

In the juvenile category things did not go well. It is true that it is one of the toughest age competitions in all of Spain due to the level of the participants, but I am convinced that our colleagues have more chess than their scores indicate. Gunnar Villanueva, with 3 points, was the best in the College, followed by Angel Oliver and Álvaro Ribera, who for health reasons left the competition before it finished, and Rubén Zaragoza.

Cheer up everyone, there isn't that much difference and with a little effort you can catch them!
