After countless years of being the largest representation in the finals, after several groups that saw their efforts compensated with several plants and bronzes, gold finally arrived.

The team composed of Rafael Serrano, Nicolás Pulido, Laura Peláez, Beltrán Lasheras and Javier Carballo was proclaimed champion of the Principality's Team Chess Sports Games this Sunday. Four emphatic victories in the first four rounds assured them the medals in the last round, and an epic draw in the decisive round gave them gold. A well-deserved award for a team that has great talent and can have a great journey.

In the rest of the categories, discrete results. A 7th place in the sub 8, which was little reward for a team that could aspire to much more, but they took a while to warm up. They are young and will have time to show their talent. In the sub 10, apart from the aforementioned gold, Sanfer B changed the pace with the sub 8. They started with two creditable draws to be diluted at the end of the competition. In under 12, a 9th and 11th places were the result of a gray morning for both teams, as they have the potential to finish much higher. In the under 14s, they were terribly penalized by the lack of a player. Even so, attendees finished in a more than creditable 7th place. In under 16, our classmates finished at the bottom of the classification. In addition to the casualties, a very strong opposition, including Spanish champions, relegated them to the last positions.

In short, a fair reward for the brilliant champions who we hope will help them continue working with more intensity if possible, and more effort for the rest, now that they know that gold can be achieved.
